What I know about Oils

Ever wonder why the school system doesn’t teach us basic first aid and multiple languages from kindergarten through 12th grade? I have. Imagine a world where generations of people from all over the world could speak with each other as they learn to help and heal the injured and sick. How many kids would know from the depths of their hearts exactly what line of service they wanted to go into before they graduate high school?

I can go on and on about all the incredibly interesting and wonderful things about this world that we don’t teach children and I can continue to ponder it. Like, why not teach math through sacred geometry? The "fibonocci" spiral? It appears to me that the “powers at be” -those who we allow to organize us- tend to keep very simple and fascinating things from the front of our minds. Why is that?

I can go on and on. Like, why is it that we celebrate Thomas Edison, a cruel and deviant man who literally stole ideas and inventions by sending runners with stolen schematics to the patent office? Why is it that we would celebrate this man who executed dogs, cows and even an elephant in public to try and disprove the efficiency of alternating current? Why would we celebrate this man? Did you know he did not invent the light bulb? Why is it that it took a rock and roll band to educate me in my early 20’s about Nikola Tesla, one of the most influential inventors of all time?

I wonder.

Why is it that it took a fierce green eyed esthetics instructor to educate me about the simple healing qualities of oils? All oils. Not just coconut or olive oil but every single oil on earth. Why would it take a skin care specialist to teach me this when oils are all around us? Why do they say mayonnaise will kill head lice?

I also wonder why they removed home economics, wood shop and auto mechanics from most public schools as well. Independent free thinkers with skills don’t make very good slaves.

I realize my writing is almost always on the snarky side and I’d like to explain why; I’m a bit salty that I wasn't given the opportunities as a child to know the fascinating benefits of simple every day things like oil. I’m a bit annoyed that I wasn't taught Spanish through school or given the opportunity to care for rescue animals at recess. To me, there are so many things that we can be doing in educating our children that will empower them to be happy in their lives as they work in realms they love and chose easily as children. When we’re children our hearts are wide open but yet for some reason the public school systems around the world don’t teach us the fundamentals of life from a young age. Instead we’re taught to sit still in hard chairs under fluorescent lighting inside block walls, many times with no windows to listen quietly to a stranger. Did you know that the medical professionals now understand that sitting still for more than 20 minutes at a time is worse for you than smoking cigarettes? The lymphatic system gets clogged up and gooey when the body is not moving. Isn’t it interesting that kids are now medicated when they can’t sit still and pay attention to work sheets? How incredibly stupid. How cruel and negligent.

Oils, yes. I free write this because of the things I know about oils. When I began my journey into beauty school I started out with an advanced class in esthetics. This course was fundamental in my life as it brought me to a knowledge that had been under my nose my entire life; skin care. I had spent too long carving up peoples skin as a tattooer. I was and still am deeply disturbed that tattooers don’t need advanced esthetics training before marking people with toxic chemicals for life, but that’s another chapter.

Okay, oils.

ALL oils are anti microbial, anti fungal, anti bacterial, anti viral, anti parasitic ext. I remember the Exxon Valdez oil spill decades ago. They never told us why oil spills kill all life they touch, just that fossil fuels cause global warming. When soaked in oil, all things die. Why? Because every living thing on earth needs air to breath. When soaked in oil nothing breaths.

The different chemical properties and molecular structure in oil make each specific oil easier to spray in the air, diffuse, apply to skin, cure Rosacea, destroy coast lines...blablabla….Like, you wouldn’t want to try and diffuse coconut oil straight from a jar. It’ll goop up your diffuser. Depending on the molecular structure of specific oils will determine how effective it is on specific issues. Same goes for the chemical compounds found in every specific oil.

Among other things, all oils are anti microbial. How simple a thing to know and understand. After studying essential oils in my advanced esthetics class my life became a collection of little bottles, glass droppers, pipettes, little crock pots and my pride and joy, an Alembic Still. Lord have Mercy, this copper still is the new love of my life. The new step in my love for oils will be making them with the help of my still and the wonderful things that grow from the earth this summer. Can you say, hydrosols?

Just so you know, I very rarely edit my writing here. I free write everything. Now, go do some oil pulling in that smelly mouth of yours.
